How we tell a volcano's story.

Every VULCASTER film treats the volcano as the protagonist - and treats you as someone who deserves to know what's real. We separate what happened from what's likely from what's imaginable, and we label which is which, on screen. No fear-mongering. No fiction dressed as fact.

Grounded projections of how a volcano behaves, drawn from its own history and current science.

A clearly-labeled "what if" - the low-probability, high-consequence edge case - never presented as a prediction.

Real terrain

We don't invent landscapes. Each volcano is rendered on its own true topography, built from open Earth-observation data - Copernicus Sentinel-2 imagery and the Copernicus Digital Elevation Model. The mountain you see is the mountain that's there.

Real science

The story starts with the record - public research and monitoring from institutions like the Smithsonian Global Volcanism Program and the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris, alongside published studies and primary historical accounts. A human, not a model, chooses each subject, checks the science, and signs off on the final film.

Labeled speculation

Where we step beyond the record - into projection or scenario - we say so in the frame. Confidence labels are burned into the video, section by section, so you never have to guess whether you’re watching evidence or imagination.

AI, in the open

Our films use AI-generated visuals - reconstructions and visualizations built on top of that real geographic and scientific data. AI is our rendering stack, not our author and not our source. Human editorial judgment drives every decision, and every film carries a clear AI-generated disclosure, in keeping with the EU AI Act.
